Vestas Colorado Picked to Supply Turbines to Iowa Windfarm

A Colorado manufacturer of wind-power generators was selected to provide up to 1,000 wind turbines for a proposed wind farm in Iowa.Vestas announced in mid-June that it entered into an agreement with MidAmerican Energy Co. to supply 2.0 MW wind turbines for MidAmerican’s proposed 2,000 MW wind project in Iowa.

MidAmerican, a subsidiary of Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway Energy, supplies power to retail and commercial customers in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and South Dakota. The Wind XI project will increase the portion of Iowa’s electric power generated by wind to more than 40 percent, the highest of any state.
